The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Course aligns with the 2020 AHA Guidelines for CPR & ECC, focusing on high-quality CPR, AED use, and basic respiratory management. Participants will learn critical skills, including high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), effective ventilation techniques, and how to manage choking in patients of all ages. Emphasis is on the Chain of Survival and the importance of quick, effective response in emergency situations. Upon successful completion of the course, including a skills test and a written exam, participants will receive an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Course Completion Card, valid for two years.
This course is for students with a current non-expired BLS/CPR Certification Card issued by the AHA. If your BLS/CPR Certification Card has expired you are not eligible this renewal course. Students must provide a copy of a current unexpired BLS/CPR Certification Card.
Students are required to have the current textbook for this course. Only Denver Health & Hospital Authority staff have the option to borrow a manual from the employee library unless they wish to bring a personal copy. New book purchases include reference cards.
